OPAF and The First Clinics have announced the addition of Fred Johnson and Frank Adams as certified First Volley adaptive tennis instructors. Both men were certified by First Volley Director of Tennis Darren Kindred at the June 19 First Volley clinic at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), Cedar Falls, Adaptive Sports Camp.
Johnson, Kansas City, Missouri, is the diversity manager for the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) Missouri Valley Section. He recently participated in the First Volley Tennis Clinic held in Kansas City for the Amputee Coalition National Conference in June.
Adams, Denver, Colorado, is a former president of the USTA Mountain district and is recognized as a leader and coach in wheelchair tennis. He had previously participated with a First Volley Tennis Clinic for Shriners Hospitals for Children in Salt Lake City, Utah.
“We have coverage from coast to coast with instructors who are specifically working with the physically challenged population and bringing them back to the game of tennis, which they can enjoy their entire lives,” said Robin Burton, executive director of OPAF.
