The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC) has announced that Timothy E. Miller, CPO, has been named president of its 2013 board of directors. Miller joined the board in 2008 and has served as an orthotic, prosthetic, and technician examiner, exam team member, chair for several ABC exam and certification committees, and has written key components of the simulation exams. He has more than 30 years of O&P experience.
Miller is joined by executive committee members James H. Wynne, CPO, FAAOP, who was elected secretary-treasurer of the board; Curt A. Bertram, CO, FAAOP, president-elect; and Donald D. Virostek, CPO, immediate past president.
Two new members were also elected to the 2012-2013 board: Dennis W. Dillard, CPed, CTO, and Eric Ramcharran, CPO.
Dillard currently serves on ABC’s facility accreditation committee and is chairperson of its pedorthic exam team. He also is vice chairperson for the State of Illinois Orthotics, Prostehtics, and Pedorthics Board. Ramcharran, a second-generation practitioner, has volunteered for several years as an exam site coordinator, clinical patient management prosthetics examiner, and committee member for ABC.
John “Mo” Kenney, CPO, FAAOP; Donald L. Pierson Jr., CO, CPed; and Charles H. Dankmeyer Jr., CPO are retiring from their board service.
Kenney joined the board in 2003 and helped create many of ABC’s current policies as a former board president. Pierson joined the board in 2008, served as liaison for the ABC facility accreditation committee, represented the pedorthic and central fabrication aspects of the profession, and played a role in integrating the Board of Certified Pedorthists with ABC. Dankmeyer was elected to the board of directors in 1974. Over the years, he has served as board president, ABC examiner, orthotic exam development committee member, and chair of the orthotic exam team. During his tenure as board president, 1976-1977, he helped ABC lobby Congress for the funding of O&P schools and helped develop ABC’s facility accreditation program.
“ABC is very fortunate to have dedicated and hardworking volunteers such as the three members leaving the board this year. I am grateful for the leadership and guidance they have provided throughout their board tenure,” said Catherine Carter, ABC’s executive director.
