CareGiving.com and Caregiver Monday have partnered to host a series of free online chats for individuals who care for or have cared for a family member or friend with a chronic illness, disease, disability, or frailty. The Caring Lunch Hour Chat debuted on March 28 and will occur every Monday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET.
Caring for a family member can be a lonely, isolating experience. It’s hard to find help, and it can be difficult to meet another individual who understands the roller coaster trials of being a caregiver. According to research conducted in 2015 by CareGiving.com of its members and visitors, 45 percent of survey respondents say they receive no help from other family members. Only 5 percent of survey respondents in the 2015 Annual Family Caregiver Survey say caregiving is not stressful.
Throughout the Caring Lunch Hour Chat, participants can connect with others who understand the challenges and stresses of caregiving. Members of CareGiving.com who care for or cared for a family member will be available in the chat room to listen and offer suggestions and resources.
To join the chat, go to CareGiving.com and click the orange “chat” button on the home page.
