An OPAF First Things First Training and Clinic was held April 1 in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The event was hosted by Carolina Orthotics & Prosthetics, headquartered in North Charleston, South Carolina; cohosted by Endolite, Miamisburg, Ohio; and supported by Accessible Mobility Centers, Concord, North Carolina. Chris Doerger, CP, PT, led the morning training for local therapists and rehabilitation personnel and the afternoon clinic session that focused on mobility, falls, and recovery.

“First Things First … takes the individual, and their care provider and support team back to the basics of mobility. Falling is something we all do, and this program offers the skills necessary to do it with as little to no injury as possible, and then return to an upright and stable position,” said John Kinder, patient care coordinator with Carolina O&P, who has a transtibial amputation.
First Things First and First Stride are the two newest First Clinics and offer continuing education credits to allied healthcare professionals along with a hands-on clinic.
