My name is James Anliot and I am the Director of Healthcare Compliance
Services for Affiliated Monitors, a company which provides independent
third-party monitoring and oversight for healthcare professionals who have
been disciplined by state or federal regulators. We provide such services in
a variety of healthcare disciplines in more than twenty different states,
including Florida. Our company has recently been engaged by an orthotist in
the Miami area who was disciplined by the Florida state board. The client
is in need of an orthotist who can conduct two audits of patient records,
one now and one in approximately one year.
We are seeking an orthotist who has substantial experience in the field and
a strong reputation for a high level of integrity in their own work. Our
monitors often come from the ranks of “veteran” practitioners, perhaps
someone who may be considering “semi-retirement” and who is interested in
giving something back to their profession, or from teaching faculty in the
professional schools. We conduct a background check on all of our
prospective monitors, and the candidate must be approved by the Florida
state board before he or she can serve. Our monitors are compensated for
their time and travel directly by Affiliated Monitors – they do not bill the
client for their time. AMI has previously done record reviews for an
orthotic and prosthetic supplier here in Boston; what we need is someone
local to conduct the reviews at the client’s Miami office. We will provide a
“checklist” for use in conducting the record reviews, as well as orientation
and training for the selected candidate. The monitor does not need to write
the narrative report of his or her findings either – that work is performed
by our staff, although the monitor will be asked to review the report for
accuracy before it is submitted.
