Step into nearly any O&P clinic or even any allied healthcare business as a patient, and you will see examples of mediocrity within the first five minutes of your visit. It’s certainly not what anyone strives for. I have yet to see a mission statement that says, “We strive to provide okay care.” We start out strong, but entropy is real, and mediocrity creeps in—subtle, unannounced, slowly dulling your team’s energy, your patient experience, and your financial results.
Average performance doesn’t show up as catastrophe; it arrives as missed opportunities, forgettable encounters, and a steady erosion of reputation in a market that’s all about trust. As business leaders in healthcare, we simply cannot afford to normalize “just okay.”
