The drivers that eroded trust over the past five years were the influence of insurance companies (25 percent), pharmaceutical firms (17 percent), and government involvement (17 percent ). Cost, the billing process, wait times, and insurance coverage ranked lowest in terms of satisfaction. Seventy percent of the respondents said improvements in honesty, compassion, and communication substantially increase their trust in healthcare.
The survey, with 2,400 responses across diverse socioeconomic backgrounds, was conducted by healthcare consultants AMF Media Group, in partnership with Armanino, and the Medical Group Management Association, an association focused on the business of medical practice management.
