The Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF) A Celebration of Will gala commemorated the organization’s 30th anniversary and exceeded its fundraising goal by raising $5.7 million. The event was held February 28 in San Diego, California.
“We are deeply moved by the overwhelming support and generosity that was demonstrated. Raising $5.7 million in one evening is a powerful statement from our community about the value and impact of our work,” said Jeffrey Essakow, CAF cofounder and chairman of the board. “This amazing contribution will significantly enhance the lives of many athletes with physical disabilities, propelling them towards new heights in sports and life.”
“Tonight, we celebrated more than just a milestone for the Challenged Athletes Foundation; we celebrated generosity towards a movement for inclusivity and the power of human potential,” said Jeff Jacobs, CAF board member and co-owner of Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa, where the event was held. “The overwhelming support witnessed here is a true reflection of the community’s spirit and belief in our mission.”
Since its inception in 1994, CAF has raised $177 million to support thousands of individuals with physical disabilities to thrive in sports.
