Roland H. “Rollie” Daniel, 94, of Minnetrista, Minnesota, passed away March 31. He was born March 2, 1923. Daniel started his career in prosthetics in 1949 at New York University, where he worked with his father, Earle Daniel, a prosthetics specialist, and Howard Rusk, MD, a pioneer in rehabilitation medicine.They encouraged him to take courses in O&P, which he completed in 1953.
Rollie Daniel began work at Winkley Orthotics and Prosthetics in Buffalo, New York, in 1953, and went on to manage that branch and another in Minneapolis. In 1972, he started American Prosthetics in Minneapolis, with three partners, which they operated until 1980 when he opened American Orthopedics, also in Minneapolis.He retired in 1998 after 43 years in O&P.
Daniel is survived by his lifetime companion, Connie Archbald; children Rolanda, Sharon, Steven, and Julie; eight grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.
