The American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC) announced that its June 2010 Clinical Patient Management (CPM) examinations will be held at St. Petersburg College, Florida. The CPM exams have historically been held at the Northwestern University Prosthetic Orthotic Center (NUPOC), Chicago, Illinois. ABC stated that “moving the CPM exams to St. Petersburg is necessary due to the relocation of Northwestern’s facility…scheduled for mid-2010.”
The CPM examinations are the half-day patient care assessment portion of the practitioner exams, and as such require access to labs, patient care areas, and classroom space. St. Petersburg College’s J.E. Hanger Orthotics & Prosthetics complex is a new, state-of-the-art facility that ABC said will provide “an ideal environment for the CPM exam.” Direct flights to Tampa are available from most major cities, and the Tampa/St. Petersburg area is relatively near residents of the Southeast.
“We have been extremely fortunate to have enjoyed such a long and rich relationship with Northwestern University and will miss the cooperation and support offered by everyone involved in the P&O program there,” said Catherine Carter, ABC executive director. “ABC wishes the entire staff the best with the impending move to their new location, and we are very anxious to see their new facility. The generous cooperation of St. Petersburg College in accommodating us for the June 2010 CPM exams allows us to have no disruption in the administration of the exam.”
